Rose's Rescue

Well Art left a few weeks ago to go home to New York and take care of his 94 year old mom. She had hip replacement about 9 months ago and is doing great. She went through rehab and was in a care facility for a few months, but it now time to come home.

She will be moving home this Friday and I am sure Art can't wait for the company. He has been shoveling snow like crazy. Almost every day there is a new load to deal with. Just before he left, we went to Big Bear Lake to the cabin and he got a good practice run. He shoveled the walk way, AFTER we crawled though the snow to get into the house. The cabin was virtually buried, what the natural snow fall didn't accomplish the snowplows finished. The back door and deck were completely under 6 feet of snow, higher in some drifts. It took a man with a skiploader about 2 hours to uncover the small horseshoe drive. I think his biggest problem was where on earth to throw the snow he had scooped up.

Any way, Art should be able to handle snow shoveling now. Hopefully there won't be that much more.

I know that the time he will spend with his mom is invaluable. I think they will have and old movie fest and probably talk for hours. They haven't had this much time together since he was probably 18 or so. I know they will have a great time. I miss him alot but I know he is enjoying himself so it is worth it.

4th photo in 4th Folder Challenge

Boy am I a little late!!! I haven't been on here in a very long time. This photo is one I took at the Wild Animal Park before I got my new Camera. It was one of the times that got me back interested in taking photos again after a long gap. These birds were very lovey dovey with each other and I actually took quite a few of them together. Sandi

Captain Morgan & The Boy

Big birthday bash for Jon's 21st birthday, the booze is coming in by wheel barrows in anticipation of a wild party to celebrate the legal drinking age. Surprise, surprise, surprise!!! What captivated the young adults much more than alcohol? A trampoline, a zip line over the creek and the swimming pool. I guess it just isn't that intriguing when it is finally legal. Looses some of it's appeal. The wonders of growing up.

Amazing Garden

Well, the "other day", (my kids say that could mean 5 years ago in mom talk) I was at dad and mom's in Hemet. To my great amazement Dad had designed and built this wonderful little garden retreat in the back of the mobile behind what they call the treasure chest. It was fashioned out of little bits of this and that, a new fountain and many assorted statues and trinkets collected over the years. There was even a bit of powderpuff plant from about 50 years ago that was still surviving. I think they were both very proud of their little creation as well they should be. We sat there all afternoon enjoying the breeze and drinking nice big glasses of ice water. Take a look and see. Love, Sandi

Grandpa's 80th Birthday

Where did all the years go. So many things accomplished and so many dreams still to fulfill. Lessons learned and lessons left to teach. Such talent, realized and used but not fully appreciated. No one could take the place of you Dad. unique, wonderful, God-gift. Creative, Loving, Wise and Godly. Happy 80th Birthday!!!

To Be or Not to Be, Blond That Is

Oh yes, I have been accused of being the original blond that caused all the jokes and lately I have been trying desperately to prove them right. All the hair dye and bleach must be going directly to my brain cells.

Madi was home with me for a day while out of school for Spring Break and I was supposed to make arrangements to get her home in time for soccer practice. Welllllll... as is common my cell phones were in my car ( where I was not), turned off and dead. I was very engrossed in helping my friend Ann get situated back in her house after three months away due to a flood. Madi was quietly watching a movie with her friend, so very quietly that I forgot I even had her with me. At about 7 p.m. I finally came to my senses and called Carla. Soccer practice was long over. The next day Madi left her mom a very interesting note so that she would be sure to keep grandma in line. The same day I missed my scheduled pedicure also but just discovered that today, two days later when I finally got my phones back in order. Some people really should not be allowed to operate machinery, even cell phones!!! See ya. Sandi

Where do we go from here?

Just got inspired by Betty Flocken and thought I'd try this. Do I just have far too much time on my hands? Or need a distraction, a way to procrastinate even more? Oh, well. "I haven't always been this way" makes my kids raise their eyebrows in silence and get that smirk on their faces. Well, enough of this nonsense! Back to work.
